KAPASA MAKASA ADDITIONAL PROVISIONAL AWARD LIST FOR 2025 ACADEMIC YEAR

The Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board (HELSB)

The Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board (HELSB) has awarded additional student loans to 2,094 eligible students across four universities.

The Loans Committee, approved these awards during a meeting held on February 3rd, 2025. The breakdown of the awards is as follows:

· University of Zambia: 1,708 first year students who appealed for consideration after they were not considered in the initial first award under the 2024/2025 academic year.

· RIDGEWAY CAMPUS: 217 third year medical students were awarded students loans after they cleared their repeat courses.

This award brings the total number of students awarded student loans at the University of Zambia to 5,036 for the 2024/2025 academic year.

· Copperbelt University: 28 post first year students 20 appeals and 1 upgrade from 75% percent to 100% of sponsorship. This brings the total number of students awarded students loans at the Copperbelt University to 4,961.

· Kapasa Makasa University: 152 students considered under appeals for the 2024/2025 academic year. The additional awards brings the total number of students awarded at the university to 405.

· Zambia University College of Technology: 185 have been additionally awarded. This brings the total number of students awarded at the university to 573 for the 2024/2025 academic year.

These additional student loans have been funded through internal savings and resource mobilisation.

HELSB is currently supporting students at 9 public universities, these include, Chalimbana University, Copperbelt University, Kapasa Makasa University, Kwame Nkrumah University, Mukuba University Mulungushi University, University of Zambia and Zambia University College of Technology.
