The Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board (HELSB) awarded student loans to 186 first-year students at Palabana University for the 2025/2026 academic year.
HELSB received a total of 239 applications for sponsorship at Palabana University. Out of the 239 applicants 186were deemed eligible for sponsorship while, 53 are ineligible representing 78% to 22% of the eligible to ineligible applicants’ ratio
The reasons for ineligibility include completing Grade 12 before 2021, failure to attach required documents, submission of incorrect admission letters, and age.
Among the186 eligible169 were from rural districts while 25 were from urban districts.
